Campus Police Unit Begins Work - The newly-formed University Unit of the Ann Arbor Police Department officially launched its operation today with Capt. Kenneth B. Klinge, right, and Staff Sgt. Harold Rady, left, in command. Patrolmen Robert Flynn, beside Rady, and William Deneau, driver's side, are among the 18 patrolmen assigned to the unit along with three detectives and three command officers. The platoon will provide all police services for the campus and by Oct. 1 the full 24-member complement of the unit is scheduled to be filled. (News photo by Cecil Lockard)

Zeck, advanced to major/ new captains Kenneth B. Klinge, head of the department's University Unit; Marvin Dann, Donald Carnahan and Thomas Minick, all platoon commanders; Eugene L. Staudenmaier, Intelligence Division, and Robert Whitaker, Research and Records Division head. Also promoted to major was Walter V. Hawkins, while Detectives Raymond Woodruff and Robert Conn received captains' bars.
