City's 675 Silent Employes Bring In Nearly $400,000 In Five years' Service - George Kaercher, Ann Arbor's parking meter collector, puts a day's take in pennies into 50-cent envelopes with the help of a sorting machine which singles out good pennies from mutilated ones, slugs, washers, etc. In the past five years of operation, the meters have taken in $391,419 in pennies and nickels.

Where Nurse Was Slain: Miss Pauline A. Campbell's body, its skull crushed, was found early yesterday morning in the spot indicated by the arrow, in front of her rooming house (left) at 1424 Washington Hgts. The cross marks the spot where a pool of blood was found, indicating Miss Campbell was standing there when the assailant struck. Her body was then dragged around behind the car and left in the street. The car is owned by a girl who also rooms at 1424 Washington Hgts.

Campbell, 34, St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital Nurse, was murdered shortly after midnight Sunday by an unknown assailant who crushed her skull with two savage blows from what is believed to have been a heavy metallic instrument. Police are conducting an intensive search for the killer.

Taking no chances on a recurrence of the slaying of Nurse Pauline A. Campbell, residents of the area where she was killed have kept their porchlights burning brightly since the murder. These houses are at 1414, 1416 and 1418 Washington Hgts. Miss Campbell was clubbed to death in front of 1424 Washington Hgts. early Sunday morning, when the quiet residential street was dark except for overhead street lights. The City Council last night took action to improve lighting in the hospitals area.
