Ann Arbor police early this morning confiscated what Chief Walter E. Krasny is calling the largest haul of "uncut" marijuana in the history of the city. Chief Krasny and Detective Staff Sgt. Calvin Hicks said between 150 and 200 pounds of marijuana plants were seized f rom a car which was stopped at 2:45 a.m. today at Dexter and Maple Rds. Two 21-year-old men and an 18-year-old girl, all from Ann Arbor, were in the car at the time police stopped the vehicle. They were released after questioning. Chief Krasny said all three will be charged with possession of marijuana when tests of the material are completed at the Michigan State Police Crime Laboratory in Plymouth. Detective Sgt. Hicks said the marijuana had apparently been harvested within hours of the apprehension. He said it was in seven large plastic bags and two suitcases in the car. Market value of the drug was placed at about $7,500. The car was stopped by police to check a report that the occupants of the vehicle may have been involved in a stolen credit card case, Sgt. Hicks said. "We don't know exactly where this material was growing but are assuming it was in the Ann Arbor area," Chief Krasny said. "It's the largest single haul of marijuana in the city in my memory."
