George A. Davis
George A. Davis, 77, a former employe of the Ann Arbor Park Department, died this morning in University Hospital after a week's illness.
Davis, who lived at 422 Eighth St., came to Ann Arbor in 1923 and for 25 years was employed as a caretaker at West Park.
Born Jan. 10, 1878, in Macomb County, he was married on Oct. 14, 1899.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; four sons, Arthur of Brooklyn, Mich,; Edward of East Ann Arbor; Lloyd and Lewis, both of Ann Arbor; and two daughters, Mrs. Ida Trombley and Mrs. Marian Quackenbush, both of Ann Arbor.
He was preceded in death by two other daughters, Mrs. Lillian Burns, in 1946, and Mrs. Charlotte Martin, in 1947, both of Ann Arbor.
Also surviving are two brothers, Orville Davis, of Ohio; and Frank Davis, of Brooklyn, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Frank St. Aubin, of Florida; and 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Muehlig Chapel, the Rev James C. Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
