Where Stolen Purse Was Discarded: A mist-shrouded bridge on Superior Rd. across the Huron River where the three youths who admitted killing Nurse Pauline Campbell said they threw her purse was visited early this morning after the teen-agers confessed to the slaying. At the scene (left to right) are Ann Arbor Police Lieutenant Walter Krasny; William R. Morey, 18, admitted striking the fatal blows; Patrolman Robert Robinson; David L. Royal, 17, who took part in the robbery-slaying; State Police Detective Joseph Liebherr (behind Royal); and Capt. Rolland Gainsley of the Ann Arbor Police Department. A tip by a Michigan State Normal College sophomore led to the arrest of Morey, Royal and Jacob M. Pell, 18.

Brought to municipal court to be arraigned on murder charges, the three confessed slayers of Nurse Pauline A. Campbell demanded preliminary examination, set for Sept. 28. In the top picture Capt. Rolland J. Gainsley (left) and Detective Sgt. Claude Damron (right) lead David L. Royal and William R. Morey, III, from the court building back to jail after the arraignment. The policeman at extreme left is not identified. In the lower photo [this photo], Detective Capt. Albert Heusel leads Daniel E. Myers and Jacob Max Pell. Prosecutor Douglas Reading is shown in the doorway and Detective Jack Walters is behind Pell. Morey, Royal and Pell confessed to killing Miss Campbell. Myers is accused of participating in an assault on Nurse Shirley Mackley, in which Morey and Pell also admitted taking part.
