Ann Arbor Police Officer Charles Fleming With New Radar Equipment, September 1967

Ann Arbor Police Officer Charles Fleming With New Radar Equipment, September 1967
Caption:
New Radar Equipment In Use - Ann Arbor Patrolman Charles Fleming operates the Police Department's new tripod radar system which is now in use against speeders in various sections of the city. The dial which tells the speed of a car and the "eye" which transmits that speed are mounted on a surveyor's tripod. The system powered by a 12-volt battery seen in the case on the ground. The officer manning the machine signals another patrolman in a nearby scout car when a speeder is detected and the second officer makes the stop. A car 1,800 feet away can be picked up by the sensitive radar machine.
