Wrecked On Emergency Call - Patrolman Carl Mahurin was escorting a speeding fire truck on an emergency call yesterday morning on Broadway when a car suddenly cut across his patrol car's path. He swerved to avoid a crash, bounced over the curb, and smashed into a brick wall, wrecking the police car. Mahurin was not hurt. The accident brought a warning from the police department that all drivers must pull their vehicles to the right of the street and stop whenever they hear a siren or see the flashing red warning lights of an emergency vehicle.
