Mrs. Geraldine Crampton, widow of Sheriffs' Deputy Frank J. Crampton, receives from Sheriff's Detective Lt. Charles J. Anderson, center, and City Police Detective Jan Suomala, right, a Medal of Valor certificate from the National Police Officers Association. Undersheriff Harold Owings Jr. is in the background. The certificate and medal which Lt. Anderson holds is in memory of Deputy Crampton, slain by an escaping convict last Jan. 15. Crampton's name will be placed on a plaque at the National Police Officers Association headquarters in Venice, Fla. Lt. Anderson is Michigan president of the organization and Detective Suomala is regional vice president over three midwestern states.
