Junior High Nearing Completion: Ypsilanti's West Junior High School, located on N. Mansfield St. just outside the city limits, is expected to be completed by August 1. Most of the roofing has been completed, and masonry work is expected to be finished this week. A millage proposal approved yesterday assures that the school can be opened this fall. This air view looks northeast, toward the intersection of Mansfield with Grant and Pearl Sts. (top right).

WHEELLESS TRANSPORTATION: Don Cramer, 14-year-old ninth-grade student at East Junior High School in Ypsilanti, demonstrates a device involving wheelless transportation during the Southeastern Michigan Science Fair over the weekend in Ann Arbor. The device is suspended and moves on a narrow cushion of air. His entry--"The Ground Effect--Wheelless Transportation"--won a second prize in the overall Senior Division and a first place in the engineering category of that division. Don is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Cramer of 316 Garland Ave. Several area students were cited.

The newly named, Lawrence C. Perry School on Harriet St., was dedicated Wednesday night in the new gymnasium before a large crowd. School officials and special guests front row from left are, Rev. William P. Mooney, who lead benediction, Amos Washington, Mrs Mildred Harris, board trustees, Mrs Louise Bass, president of the school P.T.A., Dr. Arnold W. Brown, president of the school board, Rev. Thomas Smith leading invocation, Lawrence C. Perry Jr., the son of the late Lawrence Perry for whom the school was named, Dr. Clair L. Taylor, superintendent of public instruction, Charles E. Beatty, principal, Mrs Beth Milford, board member. Back row, from left, are Donald H. Porter, school business manager, Hugh Adams, trustee, Edward Kurtz, contractor, R. S. Gerganoff, architect, Judge James R. Breakey Jr., in memoriam speaker, Evart W. Ardis, superintendent of schools, Michael Bass, student council, Clyde Budd, school board and Edward Cuthbert. An open house and special music preceded the formal program.
