French Dukes To Present Performance

Ann Arbor’s French Dukes will hold a city-wide bucket drive and will present a performance this week to raise funds for the group’s trip to Washington D.C., on Jan. 20 to march in Richard M. Nixon’s Inaugural Parade.

The 24-man precision drill team is one of three units from Michigan invited to march in the parade.

James Crawford, exalted ruler of Elks Pratt Lodge No. 322, and 0. Herbert Ellis, public relations director for the lodge, have announced the bucket drive will take place next Saturday, Jan. IT. Uniformed members of the Dukes will collect donations throughout the city and give tags in return.

The date and location of the drill team’s public performance will be announced Monday or Tuesday. The planned performance is in response to a number of requests from Ann Arbor citizens who wish to see the award-winning drill team in action.

Further contributions to help pay the youths’ expenses while they are in Washington may be sent to John P. Paup at the Ann Arbor Tryst Co., 100 S. Main.

The French Dukes are sponsored by Elks Pratt Lodge No. 322.
