News In Pictures---Train Wreck On The Ann Arbor

WRECK AS SEEN FROM WEST: Patrolman Walter De Dula of the Ann Arbor police department explains to a News reporter how one of the tank cars was left on a 45-degree angle after a broken axle caused a $7,000 wreck on the Ann Arbor Railroad yesterday morning. The 82-car freight was bound for Toledo. This view is looking north on the west side of the tracks. One car, partly hidden by trees, was at almost a right angle to the tracks.

WRECKER LIFTS DERAILED CAR: A 200-ton Detroit, Toledo & Ironton Railroad wrecker from Flat Rock is shown removing one of the tank cars derailed when an Ann Arbor Railroad freight train was wrecked about 5:30 yesterday morning here. The wrecker is working just north of the Hill St. crossing. A gondola car axle snapped, causing the accident.

CAR CONTAINING GASOLINE OVERTURNS: This overturned tank car contained gasoline but fortunately did not ignite after the wreck on the Ann Arbor Railroad near the Hill St. crossing yesterday morning. An unidentified railroad official stands on a truck to get a better view of the damage. Traffic was restored about 7 o'clock last night.
