53rd Officer Prepares For Patrolman Duties

Ann Arbor’s police department was at its full strength of 53 today with the addition to the force of Walter Dedula, 27, of 1325 Dixboro Rd., who has begun a week’s period of training for his new duties as a patrolman.

Born in Detroit, Dedula attended school there and later entered the Ann Arbor schools when his family moved here. He finished his education at Adrian High School.

The new patrolman logged four years of Army service with the corps of military police. Most of his service was in Canada, and his longest assignment was as a guard at the Sault St. Marie locks.

Since his discharge from the Army in January of 1946 he has been working as an electro-plater for a manufacturing firm in Adrian, where he and his wife, Gloria, made their home up to the time of their recent move to Ann Arbor.
