Two New Police Officers Hired

Mahurin And Davis Added To Force

Ann Arbor’s police department is now one man short of its full strength quota of 53 with the addition of two patrolmen to the force, Chief Casper Enkemann announced today.

The 53rd member is expected to be put on duty soon to bring department personnel to the full size authorized by the City Council.

The two new patrolmen are Carl F. Mahurin, 30, of 560 Kuehnle Ave., and Robert H. Davis, 27, of 112 Koch Ave., both ex-servicemen with military police experience.

Mahurin was born in Joplin, Mo., and attended high school in Vinton, la. He entered the U. S. Army April 9, 1942, receiving his honorable discharge Oct. 23, 1945, after serving in the European Theater and the Middle East.

He holds the American Defense Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, the European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, six overseas service bars, and the Army's good conduct medal.

Before joining the police force he worked as a carpenter. Mahurin is married with one child.

Davis was born and educated in Indianapolis, Ind., and served in the military police in the South Pacific Theater from Jan. 15, 1944 to Sept. 9, 1945, receiving an honorable discharge.

A resident of Ann Arbor since 1941—excluding his years in service—he has been employed by the New York Central Railroad. He is not married.
